Diabetes, yoga practice, and safe self-care
People with diabetes sometimes ask whether yoga or hand gestures can manage the condition. A mudra is a traditional gesture, not a proven diabetes treatment. No one should be promised that it will lower glucose or remove the need for medical care.
Discuss activity with your care team
The right level of physical activity depends on your health, medications, complications, and current fitness. Your clinician can help you plan safe movement and glucose checks.
Keep treatment consistent
Continue prescribed medication and follow your agreed plan for meals, monitoring, and appointments. Do not stop or change treatment because of advice from a yoga article.
Optional relaxation
If comfortable, you may rest your hands in a simple gesture during meditation and breathe normally. Treat it as a personal relaxation choice, not as a way to control blood sugar.
Safety and limits
Follow your diabetes care plan for abnormal glucose readings or symptoms. Seek urgent help for severe symptoms or if your plan directs you to do so.
