NETI KRIYA

Neti Kriya: traditional practice and safer nasal care

Neti is described in yoga traditions as a nasal-cleansing practice. Because methods differ, readers should not treat a brief article as sufficient instruction for inserting a thread or other object into the nose.

Safer water hygiene

If using a nasal rinse, use sterile or distilled water, or water that has been boiled and then cooled. Clean and dry the device as directed and prepare saline appropriately.

Avoid force

Do not force fluid or material through a blocked nasal passage. Stop if the practice causes pain, bleeding, ear discomfort, or unusual symptoms.

Get individual advice

Seek professional advice before nasal irrigation if you have recent surgery, frequent nosebleeds, significant blockage, or concerns about whether it is suitable for you.

Safety and limits

Sutra Neti is an invasive technique and should not be learned solely from written instructions. Seek competent in-person guidance or avoid it.
