Fruit and nutrition: what a balanced diet can do
Fruit provides water, fibre, vitamins, minerals, and naturally occurring sugars. Eating a variety of fruit can contribute to a balanced diet, but fruit is not a cure-all and does not “detoxify” the body or replace medical treatment.
Variety matters
Different fruits provide different nutrients. Whole fruit generally provides more fibre than juice; choose forms and portions that fit your needs and preferences.
Avoid cure claims
No single fruit or fruit-only regimen can be relied on to cure disease, correct every nutritional problem, or remove toxins. The body’s liver, kidneys, lungs, digestive tract, and other systems carry out normal waste processing.
Personal needs differ
People with diabetes, kidney disease, food allergies, or other medical needs may require individual nutrition advice. A registered dietitian or clinician can help tailor choices.
Safety and limits
Do not replace prescribed treatment with a fruit-only diet, juice cleanse, or other restrictive regimen.
